Why should the background picture be like a painting on a wall? I want the browser to be a window to the world. The background picture needs to cover the whole window without distorting. (As in CSS 3...)
Why centered? Using Golden Section makes the background more active part of the arrangement.
There is creative tension between the background and the small picture.
Menu is static and takes space, because structure is important. Menu on the right... left and right brain-halves... or just to do differently?
I thought originally about liquidity... but after thinking a few years prefer less and refined text.
