Group dynamics?

Maybe you have heard stories about brilliant teamwork. Have you got means to lead one?

What is the question, that the team members really ponder? Right now? What group pattern is on? What can I do now?

Experiential understanding this subconscious logic gives a totally new perspective also for leading a single meeting or larger organization.

Goals of the training

The training is meant for Agile change agents - coaches, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, their sponsors and active team members.

We will practice:

  • To anticipate and recognize what question of the individuals is right now taking attention from the principal task
  • To understand and recognize group dynamics and to choose constructive interventions
  • Analyze how the surrounding organization, culture and leadership effects teamwork
  • Reflecting the group and oneself

Content and ways of working

The training is based on experiential learning. It supports the ability to apply around the following themes:

  • Principal task
  • Individuals' questions, not related to the work
  • Self-organization - theory and parctises
  • Group (team) development phases from the group dynamics perspective - situational leadership tools
  • Conflict, feedback
  • Resistance
  • Tools to analyze the complex surrounding organization

The special themes for Agile coaches/change agents:

  • The role, assignment and environment of the coach
  • Agile meetings, e.g. Sprint planning, Retrospective

The training takes the group through team development phases, from forming to mature work group and ending. The training demonstrates group leadership. The training group serves as it's own case study.

The trainer

The trainer has developed the content and methods of the training since 1997 in dozens of long group processes. Participants have been Agile coaches, Product Owners, change agents and other managers. The background traditions include Lean, Agile, psychodynamic organizational consultation (Tavistock), complexity theory, Nonviolent Communication and experiences in leading large organizations.
